Nokia 6300, iSync and Leopard
Some people are reporting problems with the iSync plugin and Leopard. So I thought I’d start a new post where people can post their problems.
Personally I haven’t experienced any problems. I did an Archive & install, so no old stuff from Tiger on my System. That might be a problem if you just did an update of your system.
The installation is the same as always:
- Download the Nokia 6300 iSync plugin v. 1.1
- Extract the nokia6300phoneplugin.zip (Your browser might do it for you)
- Quit iSync if its running
- Move the extracted file (Nokia6300.phoneplugin) to ~/Library/PhonePlugins If that folder isn’t there, just create it.
- Start iSync and sync away
The plugin, after expanding the .zip-file, will no longer look like a folder in the Finder.
Let me hear what problems you have, and please include if you did an update to Leopard or a clean install.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

As I reported in the “new version of the 6300 plugin” comments, I’m not getting this to work. Re-created the PhonePlugins folder, got a fresh plugin, even deleted old SyncServices folder and iSync prefs, but still no go. Even reset the phone to factory settings, but no, it won’t show up. It DOES show up as a USB device in Profiler, so that does work.
I’m stumped.
Did a clean install of Leopard, BTW.
Is it support properly two-way syncronization with addressbook and iCal ?
ya i like it
How can I get my nokia 6300 to connect up with my mac os10 so I can transfer music. The multi media transfer is not compatiable .
Max: When you connect the phone to your mac, do you choose Nokia on the phone?
Mamta: When you connect the phone via USB you select the data option on the phone and then it should mount in the Finder. Then you can copy your music as any normal file. Sadly it won’t show up in and synch with iTunes.
Working great on my MacBook with Leopard. Thank you very much for making this plugin
Nis: Yes, I did. But, like I added to the “new version of the plugin”-thread: I got around my problems by switching to BlueTooth, instead of USB.
I have to add, though, that file transfer did not give me the trouble that iSync did. Like you said: make sure you choose the correct mode when connecting the cable, and things will work.
hi. my first nokia 6300 was stolen the other day so i bought a new one yesterday. i had previously isync-ed all my contacts to my computer and am now trying to upload them onto the phone but all attempts are failing. i don’t understand why. the plug-in is there, i never removed it yet i can’t get them to sync up. help!
Using Nokia 6300 and a MacBook, and it works nearly perfectly except for one thing: All day events are listed as being 8PM-8PM on the same day. It’s pretty annoying. Anything I can do?
One problem I had: when you are using groups of calendars, it will not work properly – just copy the calendars out of the group and delete the groups and it will sync perfectly.
If not you get an error when syncing and no data is transferred!
cheers, georg
Hi i got a problem i have done everything as told. And the phone is connekting to my mac (leopard) but i sync can’t find the Unit??? What to do?
[...] ordered it online and waited patiently.Meanwhile, I found a good Nokia 6300 site, which provides a free Nokia 6300 iSync plugin which allows the Nokia 6300 to sync with iSync. I installed it, and it works flawlessly. 20 minutes [...]

hi. i downloaded the v 1.1 ad it worked very wel… only one thing happend… the photos on my 6300 have been erased. can somebody help me an tell me how i can get back the fotos on the mobilephone? thx a lot
Hi, and thanks for all your hard work.
After getting a 6300 for my better half, I recently bought a 6301 which seems identical in all respects to the 6300 apart from the UMA technology it contains. Your plugin for the 6300 works fine on first sync with the obvious tweaks like renaming the TIFF, and changing occurrences of 6300 to 6301. However, subsequent syncs stop half-way and don’t complete. I have tried syncing just calendar, and just contacts but the same issue occurs. To get changes on the phone, I have to remove the BT connexion, recreate it and then use RESET DEVICE in iSync. Any ideas? And btw, sorry if this post is out of bounds for this forum.
Watch out people, you may be missing something that you’ll kick yourselves over later…
Check that you’ve enabled Bluetooth Sharing in the Sharing PrefPane. New part of Leopard that many ex Tiger users have overlooked.
Good luck!
Worked perfectly!
Thanks
Just one problem: Appointments in iCal (with a specific time) work fine, but all-day iCal events appear on the 6300 shifted one day later. Is this perhaps because I’m in New Zealand??
Thanks!!!
Fastest “fix” I’ve ever loaded. Thanks! Works great!
smooth as a baby kitten!
thank you very much, kind plug-in-maker
THX – as a newbie to macs, I had to find out what happened to my downloaded file after doubleclicking it, but after putting it to the phoneplugin-folder everything seems to wors fine
however, some details of my conacts aren’t synced ?
I’ll find out ….
Again – THANK YOU very much
brill – works a treat thanks, it’s really been bugging me that this phone wouldn’t work with isync and now it does! running leopard 10.5.2 on a macbook pro.
Fantastic! Very easy to install, matter of minutes (more like seconds). Saved me so much time in otherwise having to potentially send over each business card separately via BlueTooth.
Thank you!
Had this working before I upgraded to leopard and got a new 6300 on the same day! Now I just can’t get the replacement handset to work with Leopard…did everything the same way. Keep getting a ‘the following plugin will not work with this version of isync’ (i have v 3.0). Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks.
“4. Move the extracted file (Nokia6300.phoneplugin) to ~/Library/PhonePlugins If that folder isn’t there, just create it.”
I´m sorry, but I just don´t get it. Can you please try to explain this in a easyer way?
I installed the plugin as instructed but without any luck nothing is syncing when I connect the phone its not even registering the plugin or phone is there. Any ideas?
