iSync and Nokia 6300
As stated previously I love my new phone. And syncing with Zyb is nice, but sort of one-way. I pondered about buying a Bluetooth USB-thingy for my G5 (which haven’t got the Bluetooth/airport module).
Thinking it might be prudent to research if iSync even works with my Nokia 6300, I did some searching. About 3 searches later I landed on Koos Kaspers post about iSyncing the 6300
I read through and made the changes. And then read the comments, where a user named Angus says how to make it sync via USB. Oh, heaven, I thought. No need to buy a Bluetooth thingy, then.
All in all it takes 5 minutes and the sync is fast and as easy as any iSync-sync.
Here is a recap of what to do:
- Quit iSync (If its running).
- Do a “Show Contents” on iSync in the Applications folder
- Find the file “MetaClasses.plist” in Contents -> PlugIns -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> PlugIns -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources
- Duplicate it (just to be safe)
- Open it with a text-editor.
- Do a search for 6280, and copy this text below the 6280 block. The 6280 block is about 53 lines long.
- Save it.
- Download and put this picture into Contents -> PlugIns -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> PlugIns -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources (The same folder as the plist file we are editing).
- Done.
Ive changed the bit that makes the USB-sync work in the text already. So just connect the phone, start iSync, add device and sync away.

Hi, I’ve got a problem with the sync of the 6300 and iCal on my Mac – a problem which might be related to the phoneplugin and might not – but I don’t know! The story goes like this:
During sync with iSync somehow events are doubled in both iCal on my PowerBook G4 with OS X 10.4. and in the calender of Nokia 6300. If I sync three times an event is tripled in both iCal and phone etc. It seems like iCal doen’t want to obey the phone during sync – and I always use the phone as my primary source – as far as I know, anyway. iCal is thus used as a backup.
And there is another curious thing going on:
I’ve created my own calender in iCal. Even though I subscribe to Holidays and Weeknumbers in iCal, they are turn of during sync with iSync. But still they emerge in the calender of my Nokia 6300 after sync. As far as I can see, the setup is correct.
If anyone knows howw to deal with these issues, I’d be must greatful, as deleting all these extra events in the phone is both rather irritating and terrible time consuming.
Hi Bjørn,
Did you do the manual install as above on this page, or did you use the plugin?
If you did both, try removing the block of text you entered into the MetaClasses.plist-file.
Maybe try to download the plugin again, and install it again. Just let it overwrite the old one.
Restart isync and try the sync again.
Hi Nis,
Thanks very much for your reply. I’ve used both things. At first only the manual install, then both – but it’s still the same mess, though I’ve just tried it once more.
Any ideas on what might be wrong will be most appreciated.
Hi again,
Maybe you’ll find it interesting, that I’ve now used this plugin instead (no offense!):

– and it works wonderful. Nokia 6300, iSync and iCal now plays together like a sweet dream!
None taken.
I’ll have a look at the plugin from s60themes, and see what’s different.
