Nokia 6300 iSync-plugin
Update: I have made a new version of the plugin that should get rid of the problems Bjørn had. You can get the new iSync plugin here.
I made my first iSync plug-in.
As you might have guessed, its for the Nokia 6300. Making this plugin was actually pretty easy. That’s why I’m giving it away. It should work, but I guarantee nothing. It might kill your cat, it might make you coffee.
Installation of the Nokia 6300 iSync-plugin
- Download the Nokia 6300 iSync-plugin.
- Extract the nokia6300phoneplugin.zip (Your browser might do it for you)
- Quit iSync if its running
- Move the extracted file (Nokia6300.phoneplugin) to ~/Library/PhonePlugins If that folder isn’t there, just create it.
- Start iSync and sync away
That should be it. If not leave a comment here. In fact, leave a comment here if you find it useful too.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

Hi
think there must be something I don’t understand about mac’s – I have copied the plugin to a new folder in Library, but i-sync can’t recognise my phone. There is no zip file just the plugin file which I put in a new folder called phone plugins as you said.
Help!
Hi Charlotte,
Which folder did you did you copy the plug-in to?
Hi there,
i have installed the plugin. After i start to syncronize my MacBook with my Nokia 6300 the phone suddenly reboots and the syncronization stops. Is this a problem of my phone? I work with isync 2.4.
Hi Holger,
That does sound like a problem with the phone.
Hi Nis,
it was a problem with my existing contacts in the phone. I deleted all of them in the phone and imported them from my Exchange Server to my Macbook Adressbook. After a new sync everthing just works fine.
Thanks.
Great! Im glad its working for you now.
hello !
i think i have the same problem with Charlotte.
I made a new folder in the library where it lists quite a few things and then tried to synch with no success …
Any ideas ?
Thank you . i have iSynch 1.5 …if that helps
Hi Nasos,
Did you name the new folder PhonePlugins? If you did it might be because of the older version of iSync. I have version 2.4 right now. Any chance you can try updating iSync?
Hello Nis,
I am running on 10.3.9 so i think from what i read that 2.4 is not compatible wit my version and from what i understood there is nothing between 1.5 and 2.4 .
thank you for your help I will keep you updated.
Regards Nasos
Ah. Well… I haven’t got access to a machine with 10.3.9 installed, so I really have no way to test the plugin in iSync 1.5.
Just downloaded and installed the plugin according to your instructions. Had to create a new folder in the Library. Worked perfectly, no problems synchronising contacts and calendar details. Thanks a lot!
I’m thinking of getting a 6300, but it’s gotta sync! Thanks for your plugin, sounds great.. I don’t suppose it support Address Book photos or bluetooth does it?
Cheers!
Ben
I haven’t checked the addressbook photo-part, but it should sync via Bluetooth.
Don’t work on my PB (OSX 10.4.10, isync 2.4)
Metaclass modified don’t work and plugin “incompatible”
Have you a solution?
Thanks
Fred
Did you download the plugin from this page or the new one?
Also, it sounds like you edited the metaclass file. If you downloaded any of the plugins from here, no editing should be necessary.
yes, i have download the plugin from your site.
But not work…
thanks
Fred
where exactly do i create this new folder?
MAC7: Did you download the newer version of the plugin?
Franticblue: In the folder called Library in you home folder.
Work’s great on my powerbook! thanks…
Thank you SO much for this! You saved me a lot of time. I’m very grateful.

thx so much. now it’s finally working!
Great Work!!!! Thank you so much. iSync told me that it failed the initial sync, but actually everything came across fine. Now when I sync it says successful. Thanks again. Oliver
hi dudes…i am afraid i m a little layman when it comes to mobile. i have just bought this phone. can anyone please tell me what is isync?
Hi Adnan,
iSync is an application that comes free with Mac OS X. It is used to synchronize data between your Mac and your phone.
Congratulations with a great phone
hi
i use macmini with tiger and all updates

i put the file nokia6300.phoneplugin inside
start isync again
it doesnt found anything :o(
Thanks mate- works perfectly.
Hi! Great think this plug in, but save my problem only half. Sync with iCall works great, but syncing with adress book I have some problem. All the contacts are exported to my mobile phone twice, so in the midle of syncronization the mobile is full. In adress book are all contact once…Any sugestion? Thanks for this page.
Isn’t working for me…. Says it can’t open because there’s a problem with the plugin.
joshu, if u r using OS X leo, the plugin from here is no longer compatible.
still no luck, i get the message that isynch doenst support this phone..
i have tried sooo many plug ins AND THIS WORKED!!!! you saved my life thanks..
Thanks a huge lot !!!!!
It works perfectly.
If you create any new things for the 6300 please keep me posted.I have no idea how you do that but it works perfectly
All the best
Simon
hi!
i’m trying, but no chance. I did all you wrote, connected the phone again to my powerbook, choosed “Nokia Mode”, started iSync, but still “no phone found”
Hi,
Thanks so much for developing the 6300 plugin. Just one question- is there any way to get the notes field in ical appointments to show up on the phone?
Cheers,
kd
Works great, thx guys!
works great! thanks a lot!
thanx a lot
Cheers for the plug-in! It wouldn’t sync via USB cable for me (isync v3.0) but synced perfectly via bluetooth, so all is well.
Awesome! Worked perfectly first time. Thank you for doing this, especially for free!
It works!!! Thank you!!!

Hi There dont know if this is what i need but it is a sync problem i think i have.I have a parrot 3200 ls color and my 6300 sometimes syncs the phonebook over and other times not.Wonder if anyone has any ideas ??
sync worked fine – thanks.
Is it possible to prevent certain contact fields being synced? I would like to sync phone numbers only and not addresses. I do not like having my friends addresses and phone numbers together on my phone in case it gets stolen.
This is amazing. Thank you so much!
Hi, the Plugin works fine. However, iSync tells me, that synchronisation failed. Have others made the same experience?
(OS 10.4.11, iSync 2.4)
Sorry, there is no problem with this message from iSync. I just forgot to remove my old phone. Now everithing works fine, thank you very much!

Thanks for posting the plugin for free.
It works perfect, and saves a lot of work.
Any anti-virus 4 nokia6300
Worked first time on Mac OSX 10.4.11 ISync version 2.4. Many thanks.
Thanks a million – works perfectly
I was delighted that the plugin was available. I haven’t used iSync before – always looking for a reasonable phone to use with it. I installed this last year, with iSync 2.2? Seemed OK. Problems with ERASING a lot of entries in Address Book!!!!! I can live with things disappearing from my phone but not from Address Book!!!!
A bad one is double numbers on phone and Address Book! Terrible! What’s going on?!?!?!? Is it a problem with your plugin or iSync? Stopped using it. Since Leopard I have version 3 of iSync and hoping it might solve some of this but I’m scared of ever touching this again.
Have you fixed this yet? I will PAY you for a working and reliable plugin!!
I have one section of Address Book called Phone, and that is selected to sync only. But important records have disappeared from Address Book while using this plugin which are not in the Phone section. I don’t want ANYTHING to change on Address Book at all – just to transfer to the phone when I lose a phone, etc, then get everything set up onto a new phone again. Simple. How do I set ‘no changes to Address Book’?
What’s happening?
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi,
Can u plz help hw i can transfer all my SMS from the phone to my Sim card
Thx
Was
thank you, everything is going fine. before that i only had to find out, that i have 2 library folders on my macbook. the first was on the macitosh-hd, the second under user. i simply created on both the phoneplugin-folder and then put your plugin under both folders;o)
Everything synced across pretty well using bluetooth under Leopard. Photos haven’t synced but I think that might be the format that they’re in. All day events don’t work properly showing 12:00-12:00 GMT or 13:00-13:00 BST depending on where in the year they fall.
Thanks so much, it works nicely!
Seems to work fine on my PBook, 10.4.11, Nokia 6300 v. 04.71, Fido in Canada
Thanks much!
I have used your plugin before, but now am noticing something weird. iSync can sync with the 6300 but uses a ‘wrong’ addressbook. I have changed a lot in my addresses and AdressBook itself shows the correct list. But when I sync, the old version of the adresslist gets put on the phone.
I have tried deleting the Isync support folder in my library, deleted the plugin.
Any ideas, it’s driving me nuts!
I’m running the latest version of 10.5
hi, i have installed and synced it worked great. where does it save the number too?
Nokia were too lazy to make a simple iSync compatible XML file for one of their biggest selling phones?
Note to self: Never, ever, ever buy anything from Nokia that claims to sync with a computer. They’re obviously lazy fools.
Would you create a Plugin for a Nokia 6301?
Appreciaitive, Rich
Good work!
This is the real thing that works with the latest iSync version under Leopard.
Hi,
I installed on to my new Mac Book (still a novice) as described above.
The phone is found via Bluetooth, but isync says the Nokia 6301 is not supported by isync.
Any suggestions please. Is there an edit to make it suitable for the 6301?
Cheers
works like a charm! thanks!
