New version of the Nokia 6300 iSync plugin
Some users were having problems with synced calenda items. Namely doubling them in both iCal and on the phone. This should be solved in the new version.
Installation of the Nokia 6300 iSync-plugin
- Download the Nokia 6300 iSync plugin v. 1.1
- Extract the nokia6300phoneplugin.zip (Your browser might do it for you)
- Quit iSync if its running
- Move the extracted file (Nokia6300.phoneplugin) to ~/Library/PhonePlugins If that folder isn’t there, just create it.
- Start iSync and sync away

[...] I found a freely available plugin to make the Nokia 6300 work using iSync, and it is actually fairly easy to make a such plugin, [...]
I found a mismatch in link to the .tiff image contained in the plugin. The image file is named “NOK6300.tiff”, however in the plist XML it is defined as “com.nokia.6300.tiff”. This results in the default image being showed in iSync.
Sometimes I do things much too quickly. I did wonder why the icon was a bit different in the new version, but didn’t think it through.
Nevertheless, its changed now, and the new, new, plugin is uploaded and available at the same link above.
Hi Nis! Just bought my phone today. I’ve followed all your instructions: (1) make a “Phoneplugin”
folder in the `Library and then transfer the unzipped file there. But, when I run my iSync it says “Can’t run iSync because of a problem with a plug-in” Then it asks me to delete the plug-in. I’ve tried all your versions and still the same thing. Please help! Thanks for your time
Hi Pao Pao,
Just a few basic questions to make sure its not that. The file you installed is called “Nokia6300.phoneplugin”, right?
The folder it should be installed in should be called “PhonePlugins”.
Which version of iSync are you running? Mine is 2.4
If thats all ok, try opening up the Console application and see if it writes anything that has to do with iSync when you try to start it with the plugin installed.
Hello Nis,
I would like to thank you very much for this plug-in.
You’ve really helped me out!!!
Have a nice day!
Nicholas
Thank you Nicholas. Im glad you could use it.
Thanks so much for this. Gorgeous phone now works perfectly on my new MacBook Pro. Very happy. Thank you!!
Is you isynch for nokia 6300 functioning for Max os x 10.3.9 ??
Hi Elke.
I don’t think so. Another user running 10.3.9 made a comment ( Here: http://nokia6300.net/6/nokia-6300-isync-plugin#comment-26 ) and said it didn’t work with his version of iSync. But he might have tried the older version of the plugin. You can always try to download the plugin linked at the top of the page. If it doesn’t work, you can always delete the plugin again. No harm done.
Thank you
it works well on my MBP OSX 10.4.10
nice
EXCELLENT – u have saved my life – it would of taken me a day and an age to handtype 451 phonebook entries
Hi Nis,
I just download your plugin v1.1 and follow your instructions to move the nokia6300.phoneplugin to the newly created PhonePlugins folder in the Library. The device found but with message “This device is not supported by iSync”. I don’t know what is wrong. I’m using macos 10.4.10 and iSync 2.4.
Thank you for your help.
thank you the plugin.
it’s always a bit of a chore when you get a new phone to make it compatible with the way you’ve worked – delighted you saved me time and money by having it right on the web.
Thanks so much for this plugin! Worked very nicely with my wife’s new 6300 and my MacBook Pro, which currently has OS X 10.4.10, and iSync Version 2.4 (501.2).
BTW, to anyone having trouble getting this to work, remember that after you’ve set up the plugin, you must choose “Set up Bluetooth Device…” from the Bluetooth menu first before going to Devices / Add Device… in iSync. If you skip that “Set up Bluetooth Device…” step, iSync will never find your phone.
Hi all,
I just don’t understand the 4th step of installation :
When I download and extract your zip file, the result is a FOLDER (not a file) named ‘nokia6300v11phoneplugin Folder’ wich contains 2 others folders named ’__MACOSX’ & ‘Nokia6300.phoneplugin’. But I never see a FILE to drop in the newly created ‘PhonesPlugins’ folder…
Do you have any explication for me ???
How to install this way ?
Thank you all
In OS X most items are actually folders. I think the one you need to copy into “PhonePlugins” are the folder called “Nokia6300.phoneplugin”.
Hi,
Where can i find the part of iSync that goes to the phone?
Hi,
The plug-in worked like a charm :
))Thanks a lot :
A small request, will be great if you can incorporate ‘Contact Photo’ sync.
Thanks.
Regards,
Bharat
Hi,
I had version 1 of your phone plugin, and it worked for some time.
Then I updated my mac os and isync didn’t support my 6300 anymore. I installed Ver. 1.1 and it worked.
Thanks.
Thanks for the help.. the nokia multimedia transfer is not compatible with nokia 6300. does anyone know how to transfer songs from my itunes to my nokia 6300??
Hi
I was wondering if anyody found the way to sync the contact photos of my address book with the 6300.
More important, company’s names are not sync as well.
Thanks
Thanks for the plug-in. I have used it and it works ok with only address sync. Somehow the calendar sync is not working out.
Also when you have a pic assigned to a contact, too many of these will crash the phone and leave the address book on the phone not able to accept further changes. I would need to delete the entire contact list on the phone and resync. Any solution for this?
To move files to the phone. This is after you have already set up the phone to sync via bluetooth. Close iSync, and start Bluetooth File Exchange (it comes with OS X), you can browse the device and move files to which ever folder on the phone you want.
Thanks once again.
This worked a treat – first go. You saved a heap of hassel.
Thank you
Tim
Hi,
I am from the netherlands and bought my 6300 friday. Installed the plugin and it works fine….but when syncing the ical is set 2 hours off in the 6300. An appointment in iCal at 10.00 is set at 8.00 in my 6300. It should have something to do with the timezones: the imac is on CEST and the 6300 on GMT +1. They are exactly on the same time…..can somebody give a hint??
Hi just updated the phoneplugin but still can’t get the phone to synchronize the mobile contacts with the adress book.
Well it does synchronize but the phone contacts is beeing synchronized into the group “ALL” but I made a separate group just for the phone but it will not synchronize into this group?
Any idea?
I am running OS X 10.4.10, isync 2.4 and adress book 4.0.5.
Great plugin!
However, I’ll ‘third’ the request for the contact photo syncing please! Any way that it can be ‘scraped’ from a Series 60 plugin and shoe-horned into this one?
Sorry to hijack your thread here Nis, but for those of you looking to get your contact photos and birthdays syncing as well, please read my post here:

Hi,
Thank you, thank you so much. I was sad when after brginging back my new phone at moe, to notice that there’s no plugin for iSync.
You saved my life, thank you one more time
Thank you for the info and plugin. It couldn’t have been more straightforward and easier to connect.
Great plugin, worked fine the first time. I have an issue with Dutch names, however. My name has a prefix to the surname: “van”. Many Dutch, German and Scandinavian names do, f.e. “Jan van den Berg”, “Jasper de Bruin” or “Claus von Amsberg”. I put these prefixes in the “Middle” name field in Address Book, but they are not synced to my 6300. Could the plugin be modified to prefix the “middle” name with a space to the last name?
Is this supposed to work over USB?
Or is it Bluetooth-only? Cause I get a “Bluetooth is turned off on your computer” message, even though my Nokia 6300 is connected via USB (and its memory card icon appears on the desktop).
It works over USB as well. Just set the phone to “nokia” when you plug in the USB.
A-ha, will try it next time. Thanks.
Did not seem to work at all- downloaded the plugin, as instructed, extracted it and moved it into a folder in library- but when I try to isync it- it just says that isych does not support the Nokia 6300- where have I gone wrong?
Hey I just bought the NOKIA 6300 without checking what were its issues with MAC systems if it wasn`t for your Isync script I would have kill my self for being way dumb
Its working perfectly thanks a lot
HI Nis,
Just thanks for this one and only perfectly working plugin with the isynch on Leopard’s[beta] iSynch v.3.0 Other solutions worked fine, but sunching got the time of calendar items out of synch, 2 hours of difference. It’s nice to have found it in a ready-made package. !!
Hi,
I’ve tried this a couple of times & got this response when trying to sync my mac (OSX)with my 6300 nokia;
Monday, 1 October 2007 22:00
[Poola] Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
Device “Poola” synchronization failed
Now the phone is on & blue tooth is on & I can happily transfer photos via bluetooth (have done for months.)
I have created the requested folder within my applications folder – is that right?
(I tried fonelink earlier & couldn’t get that to work! help!)
Thanks,
Paula.
unfortunately mine doesn’t work…. at 14% isync hangs and after some sec. I get an error. during that time my mobile (6300) looks like it is restarting or something… screen goes totaly white and after I get the error message on isync, normal screen is back on my mobile… is it maybe because my firmware is 5.00 on my 6300? thanks for any help
2 philipp:
I had such problem too. I think it because of sync’ing with Windows Adress Book (on other computer) before. After that sync’ing with WAB I can’t edit/add contacts info on my phone, i have an error message “Can’t modify…”. I deleted all contacts from phone and get them all from my MACs Adressbook. The problem has gone and I don’t want to sync with WAB any more
May be it because of vCard versions: 3.0 of OSX Adress Book and 2.1 of Windows Adress Book.
Thanks a lot – this is the only plug-in I found that works
(it is syncing my new phone as type this)
I am using 10.4.10 and isync 2.4 – just so anybody out there has the same set-up
just looked – my contacts are all there
Really easy to upgrade – thanks a million
Hi there!
Thanks a lot for the “new old version” of the plugin, I had already quit using the agenda from my 6300 ‘caus the latest version of the plugin booked everything 2 hours earlier in the phone.
Now it’s working as it should, and I don’t need to go to my office every 15 min anymore (it’s very time-consuming when you work in a lab).
I haven’t noticed any drawbacks so far, but I only use it for the agenda anyway.
Thanks again.
All the best.
Works perfect on OS 10.5 (Leopard).
Thanks a lot.
I like it, when people make something like this :-).
Genius. Works a treat. I can’t thank you enough.
isync 2.4
OS 10.4.10
Great job, works perfectly.
MacBook C2D – Mac OS X 10.5
Hi N,
I got your instructions from for Mac X tiger and it was great, how ever I cant get it to work with the leopard because i get the same message as some of the other peope here bellow: device not suported.
i think i followed your instructions I went into my user lib and created the Phones/PhonePlugins folder and droped the in nokia6300v11phoneplugin Folder but i still get the same message…
dont know what im doing wrong…
Hi N,
ok, after trying and trying it def, didnt work to drop the folder. So I went into the old instructions and replaced the name on the metafile. So far so good, that one worked. Now is wait and see if the ical and address book will do the rest.
Thank you
K!
Works fine on my SR MB 2.2GHz, Leopard 10.5
Thanks!!!
worked perfectly and took less than a minute. Thank you.
Somehow, it doesn’t work for me. The phone and USB parts work (I can set it to mass storage mode and that works), I can set it to Nokia mode (and it’ll show up in the USB Prober), but iSync refuses to see it. There is some info in Console:
[0×0-0×79079].com.apple.isync968 16:37:12.741 [iSync:968] ERROR (.usb): Error in identification operation of :
[0×0-0×79079].com.apple.isync968 : Error Domain=AYErrorDomain Code=2 UserInfo=0×268730 “Async Operation timed out”
Any ideas as to what went wrong?
Oh, should’ve mentioned that in my previous comment, but I’m running Leopard, with iSync being 3.0 I believe. The 6300 has FW v5
Got it, thanks a zillion. Mis-named the folder to ‘PhonesPlugin’ re-spelt it and we are go. Thanks.
It is very attractive of the hold software plugin of nokia phone. But i have one to add to you web site now it is that==i want you to add Nokia them to this web because it easy to download.
Thank.
Best Regard.
hi
i have a problem installing isync as i try to install it shows me operation cancelled can u pls help me out
Hi.
Thanks a lot. Works just fine!
A little tip: For us beginners, it´s easy to forget the small things which is so obvious for you pros. So maybe you should add another point (between nr.4 and 5) to your setup-list about going through the “set up Bluetooth Device…”, Nis.
iSync didn´t find my 6300, because I wasn´t aware of that you have go through the “Set up Bluetooth Device…”. But I found help in Gerry Beauregard´s post on July 19th at 4:08 pm which tipped me of this (thanks, Gerry). The last part of his post is:
“BTW, to anyone having trouble getting this to work, remember that after you’ve set up the plugin, you must choose “Set up Bluetooth Device…” from the Bluetooth menu first before going to Devices / Add Device… in iSync. If you skip that “Set up Bluetooth Device…” step, iSync will never find your phone.”
Best regards
[...] meer via USB te synchen met iSync. In het begin heeft dat leuk gewerkt — na het toevoegen van een custom phone plugin — maar de telefoon is een keer ergens van geschrokken, vastgelopen, en sindsdien was het mis. [...]
FINALLY got it working! I decided to give up on USB and get me a bluetooth dongle instead. Note that Belkin dongles, even though the box claims Mac compatibility, don’t work. I got some unknown brand (Icidu, the blue one) that uses the same chipset that’s used in modern Macs, and it works like a charm.
Hi Nis,
I am getting the same problem as many others above which i am not sure you have resolved. Plug in installed properly, its paired and visible on the bluetooth front yet isync says it cannot connect to this device. If i run Console while trying to do this it gives me the following message:
2007-12-27 22:27:57.068 iSync2158 Please use iTunes to synchronize any iPod.
Please advise.
Nice
thank you. It works beautifully – over bluetooth!!
Thanks man! I just got one 6300 for my work and could not sync it with MB pro, no I can ;-)))))) cheers!
The isync plugin refused to download because”the file is corrupt”. Can you offer any advice as to how I can down load pictures from my Nokia 6300 telephone to my computer, please?
simple installation – work perfectly!!!!
Just to say many many thanks for this plugin it’s made my life alot easier being able to use my Nokia 6300 with my iMac.
Thanks again!
UK Mac & Nokia user
Thank you for the plugin. I really appreciate it!!!!
Thanks, works like a charm!
thank you!
Hi
I’m using 10.5.2 and like to synchronies my Nokia 6300 with it. How can I do that?
I tried it but without success
Regards
Michael
You are a genious! Thank you!
For those experiencing problems, try turning on the bluetooth in the mobile phone before panic
Thanks for the plugin
Have just installed the latest update of Leopard ie 10.5.2 and iSync version is 3.0.
Unfortunately iSync now doesn’t work with my 6300, it did before the update.
Have reinstalled the plugin but to no avail
Do you have any ideas how to fix this?
Many thanks
Tony
Dropped the plugin into the folder and connection with 6300 is ok. However the contact list refuses to sync. Calender is ok. Wonder if there is a limit in the number of contact on phone for iSync to work. No problem with 6120.
hi , having troubles with isync 2.3 on macbook osx 10.4.8 accepting plug in.

how do you plug the nokia 6300 into a computer?
Works great on MPB Tiger. Thanks!
JMHJMPTMPTM
Thanks a lot!!! It worked perfectly. Saved me a lot of work.
Hi Nis, Thanks for the plugin. I am having problems, i have set up the plugin floder as per your instruction, however on running isync, the sync starts ok then the phone crashes and the screen goes blank with the messages “select operator”. i have tried creating the same groups etc on the phone as well as the mac but no joy. any sugestions, isyn ver 3.0 and syncing via bluetooth.
Thanks a lot! I usually find it a nightmare to synch these, but this worked perfectly.
I have the same problem as jez with 10.4.11:
The following plug-in doesn’t work with this version of iSync. Click the arrow to show the plug-in, move or delete it, and then open iSync again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I just bought my phone, and the only required function besides normal, was to syncronize to my mac, and i a bit angry when neither apple.com or nokia.com could help. So thank you so much, you just saved my day.
Mette
The Nokia 6300 plug-in worked very well for me (OSX 10.5.4). No problem, very easy. Thanks.
Followed instructions (created Plugin folder as directed) and copied folder from download folder into it. Ran iSync (MacBook Pro with OX 10.5.4) and it picked up the 6300 right away. Sync took a few syncs if that. Thanks so much.
It really would be worth being a little clearer that syncing works with BLUETOOTH and not with USB, which I’m sure is where many people are going wrong.
Sorry, my last comment came across as a bit ungrateful. Thanks a million for making this, you just saved me a couple of hours while transferring my contacts to my new phone (delighted to be putting my crappy 6300 in the bin).
Thanks a lot for the plug in!!!!!
it works!!!!!
SPASIBO!!!!! it is in RUSSIAN
You are legendary!!!
Nova Media paid isync plugs failed but yours is working great.
Thank you (and ical) very much for helping me remember stuff!!!
Spanda
That was very easy, and it works!
I was really frustrated with the new phone when I tried to transfer my address list and found the phone was not compatible! Google the problem – and then found your download.
Quick, easy and works fine. Many thanks
Holy mackerel… it worked! One thing… you might consider mentioning that the plugin goes in the User’s Library and not the System’s Library.
The benevolence of strangers is a beautiful thing.
Thanks so much!
